Our camp on the Ganga, is 30 km north of Rishikesh (in Garhwal, Uttaranchal). Our camp site is
the biggest stretch of silver sand beach in this area and is open from mid September till the 15th
of June.The most popular trips are the 03 days / 02 nights packages. All equipment - life jackets
& helmets, etc. are provided and our experienced staff will guide your raft through the rapids
for an exhilarating trip down the Ganga!
Children under 12 years who wish to do the adult raft trip, would need to get an OK from the
Himalayan Outdoors personnel, who take the decision based on the height & weight ratio for
safety. Younger children can do a calmer trip down river, as well as kayaking, volleyball, frisbee,
baseball, swimming and even hikes into the surrounding forest can be arranged with prior
notice. A day in camp is rounded off with a campfire and a leisurely evening with your fellow

    Note: Kindly carry photocopy of your valid photo identification card with

    • All reservations are deemed tentative till an advance of 50% payment is
    received. The 50% advance payment is to be disbursed within 7 days of
    making a reservation.
    • Balance Payment of 50% should be remitted two weeks prior to arrival.
    • If the advance payment is not received within the specified time, the
    reservation stands cancelled.
    • All payments are to be collected in Delhi except any extras
    • Family groups– Full and final payment on booking for confirmation of the trip.
    Children’s cost:
    • 5 years & below : Complimentary
    • 6-12 years : 50% discount
    • 13 years and above : Charged as adults
    Please note:
    • All packages are all inclusive (Lunch to Breakfast)
    • Check in time is 12.00 Noon on Day 1
    • Check out time on the last day is 11.00 AM. Guests are requested to vacate
    the tents at the check out time but can use camp facilities till 12 Noon
    • There will be extra charge in case the guests check in/ check out at any other
    • There is no separate cost for non-rafting guests.
    • In case of a rafting trip on the day of arrival, the guests are advised to reach
    camp latest by 11.30 AM. The last rafting session for the day will start at
    1.30 PM. The days rafting trip will be cancelled if the arrival is later
    than 1.00 pm.
    • We regret we cannot compensate where performance of our duty is affected
    by force majeure, any incident which we or the supplier of the service(s) in
    question could not, even with all due care, anticipate or avoid. Such events
    may include war, terrorist activity, unexpected government acts, riots, civil
    strife, natural disaster, border closures, fire, road closures, pilferage,
    epidemics, quarantines, land and air travel, extreme weather conditions and
    other similar incidents beyond our capability to manage.
    • The company follows a no-refund policy. In case of cancellations due to
    genuine reasons, the amount paid will be adjusted against future trips.
    • Personal accident Insurance is advisable when booking an adventure tour.
    Persons not fit for trips due to heart disease, chronic illness, physical
    handicap, advanced pregnancy or mental illness are advised not to participate
    in rigorous travel programs. The insurance should cover death, injury, theft of
    the clients\' personal property and medical expenses. Activities with the

    Cancellation Clause:
    Prior information of any change in the number of guests or cancellations is
    mandatory. Himalayan Outdoors P. Ltd reserves the right to levy service/
    cancellation charges as per details below (Booking Amount 10% non refundable).
    If the cancellation is made:-
    • 2 weeks in advance 25% Cancellation charge
    • 1 week in advance 50% Cancellation charge
    • Less than a week 100% Cancellation charge
    Guests must be aware that during the course of the trip certain risks may occur,
    including but not limited to hazards of traveling on a mountain bicycle, white water
    raft, kayak, climbing a rock or other adventure activities. It may also involve
    accident or illness in remote places without facilities and caused by the forces of
    nature. The participant agrees to assume all risks associated with the trip and agrees
    that no liability will be attached to the company or its outfitter, employees or agent,
    or to any member of the tour group. Himalayan Outdoors accepts no liability in
    respect of illness, personal injury or death or any loss/damage to the property of
    participant during the course of the trip, however caused.
    We are proud of our safety record and we ensure it remains so by strict adherence to
    safety rules, by using state-of-the-art equipment and by refresher courses for our
    operations team. There are inherent risks involved in adventure sports. To make
    Himalayan Outdoors trips safe yet exciting we empower our Trip Leaders and
    Adventure team to reserve the right to alter or cancel any trip depending upon the
    fitness level of participants and prevailing conditions.
    • All medical conditions and concerns need to be intimated as per the medical
    concerns form before commencement of any adventure activity.
    • Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited at least 6 hours prior to
    commencement of any adventure activities.
    • Non-swimmers are permitted but may be restricted to certain sections of the
    river on the advice of the river guide/trip leader.
    • Persons suffering from weak heart conditions, epilepsy, expecting mothers or
    those with any serious ailment are not permitted to go rafting.
    • The lower age limit is 13 years for rafting which can be relaxed to 10 years
    for the easy float trips
    • Guests are advised not to carry any valuables/ expensive items, the camp will
    not be responsible for any such loss or damage.
    • Rafting/ Kayaking/ Canoeing activities on the Ganga/ Betwa River are subject
    to water conditions of the rivers.
    All guests are requested to support our cause for the environment by
    adhering to ECO-LOGICAL code of conduct.

    Our capacity is up to 100 persons at any one time, be it in one group or individual families. We
    offer large tents on a twin share basis. Each tent accommodates 2 beds, 2 chairs and a small
    table. All tents enjoy a clear view of the river and are set apart from each other so that each
    enjoys relative privacy. We provide mattresses, pillows with covers, sheets and blankets.
    We do not provide towels.

    In keeping with environmental standards and being situated on a river bank, we offer dry pit
    western style toilets that are simple, hygienic and odour free. This type of toilet is the only one
    permitted by the Indian Forest department after careful study and research of location and
    In keeping with the ambience we offer shower enclosures in the forest. Basic but fun! Hot water
    is provided. Showers are available at certain times and this will be explained during the camp
    briefing on reaching camp.
    Meals are served at a buffet. The food is good, clean & wholesome. Usually 1 continental & 1
    Indian meal per day, with a continental breakfast. Although we have fixed menus, we are
    flexible with the menu depending on the guests’ profile. Children are always especially
    considered and an early dinner is served to them every evening in consultation with the parents.
    NOTE : All our vegetables are washed in potassium permanganate.

    Our water is sourced from a spring on the opposite bank. It has been tested and found free of
    amoeba and bacteria. However we add iodine as an extra precaution.
    We can provide bottled water at an extra cost.
    1. Dehradun Shatabdi Express – departs New Delhi 0650 hrs. Arrives Haridwar at 1125 hrs.
    From Haridwar we can provide a pick-up transfer to the Camp – 90 mins drive by road –
    approx. 37 kms.
    2. Jan Shatabdi Express – departs New Delhi at 1530 hrs. Arrives Haridwar at 1830 hrs.
    Pick-up transfer same as above can be provided.
    3. By road – 260 kms from Delhi. Approx. 6-7 hrs driving time. Depending on the time that
    you leave Delhi. Early morning is best.
    N.B. Any travel arrangements made by us are booked via a travel agent & you are charged

    GANGA - FAQs :
    Q : Do I need to know swimming to go rafting?

    Ans: Not necessary. Our life jackets, equipment and safety briefing by our experienced crew
    are more than adequate. However, should you be apprehensive of the big rapids, our
    guides will have you walk around them.
    Q : What are the age and health restrictions, if any, for rafting?
    Ans : There is no upper age limit for rafting as long as you are in reasonably good health.
    Minimum 12 yrs. You will be required to sign a liability release prior to the trip. Guardians must
    sign on behalf of children. For children below 12 yrs we have certain ‘kiddy’ rafting stretches
    which have mild rapids.
    Q : What do I need to wear for rafting?
    Ans : Himalayan Outdoors’ provides 3mm neoprene wetsuits (full body, sleeveless) in
    addition to a paddling jacket, life jacket and helmet is more than adequate for the
    colder months (Dec/Jan/Feb). You need wear only thermal underwear (or underwear)
    underneath the wetsuit. You will need a pair of strap up sandals or running shoes. No
    bare feet. For the warmer months (March, April, October and November), shorts and T-shirts
    along with the footwear is adequate.
    Q : Is rafting safe/ what can I expect on the trip?
    Ans : The Ganges rapids are ideal for the first time rafter where you can expect to get
    thoroughly wet and have a lot of fun! The rapids are thrilling yet safe. On the
    International Scale of I to VI in grading rapids, the rapids you will experience are
    between II and IV. (Class I being easy and Class VI being exceedingly challenging). Our

    guides are in command and will instruct you in basic paddling technique and safety
    procedures. In certain sections of mild white water you may be encouraged to “body
    surf”. There is a stop for refreshments along the way at “Diving rock” where the more
    adventurous can take a plunge into the river. For the more adventurous we have
    inflatable kayaks which are stable in white water and our guides would be happy to
    instruct you to try some of the milder rapids in such kayaks.
    Q : What else can I do at camp besides rafting?
    Ans : You can try your hand at kayaking and rappelling and even choose to go on a nature
    walk or a day long hike. Sight-seeing in Rishikesh, famous for its ashrams and evening
    aarti ceremony. Yoga and meditation classes can also be arranged on request at the
    beach camp site. For children we have a trampoline, beach-games and sand castle
    building competition!!
